Beach Clean Up

SurfRider Foundation Beach Cleanup

Last Saturday, I was invited to help with a beach cleanup with the SurfRider foundation. Not generally my cup of tea (so to speak) but a tremendous opportunity to meet people who know a whole lot more about the plastic in the ocean than I do and let's face it, plastic in the ocean is probably my biggest passion right now.

Together we collected about 35 pounds of garbage. I personally added less than 1/2 pound but in my defense, I collected nearly 100 cigarette butts which tend to be labor intensive and very toxic containing such wonderful chemicals as Benzopyrene (carcinogen), Arsenic, Acetone, Formaldehyde and Ammonia. They are such a big issue even ABC News had something to say about it. More...

by Chuck Peavey 30. September 2010 10:04

Marketing Events Going Green

I mentioned that last weekend; we publicly announced www.GreenCertifiedWeb.org, a green business certification company, at the Craig Duswalt Rockstar marketing Bootcamp. What I didn’t mention is that Ray Parker Jr. was there. See, that’s half the fun of doing Craig’s Rockstar Marketing Bootcamp, you never know who is going to show up... except that the next Bootcamp in March 2011 will have Kevin Cronin, the Lead Singer from REO Speedwagon

by Chuck Peavey 9. September 2010 09:01

Plastics; what’s what?

I don’t know about you but those little numbers on recyclable products, I don’t understand them. I find myself looking at these and wondering what I’m supposed to do with them. So for my own benefit, I’m including them here. Perhaps you can benefit as well: More...

Where Web Pages Come From

I want to tell you about Corporate Colocation, the Datacenter Company I use to host my web servers. Just so you know; I’m not getting anything for doing this. I am just very proud to be a part of something that I believe is a revolution in Datacenters and Internet technology in general. More...

Wilderness Stewardship, Not Quite Leave No Trace

Small Town Life

Cash National ForestI grew up in a small town in Utah. When I was in grade school, there was no cable television so on summer days, we had to find other things to do. If my brother and I even breathed we were board, my mom would send us out to climb a mountain or go to the swimming hole in the river or take our BB Guns and shoot some cans. More...

Besides Carbon Dioxide, What are the other Greenhouse Gasses?

by Chuck Peavey 15. July 2010 09:00

Greenhouse Gas and Mercury

We hear a lot about greenhouse gases and then we hear almost exclusively about Carbon Dioxide (CO2). It’s easy to assume that CO2 is the only greenhouse gas that matters. But there are other gasses that cause the “greenhouse effect” and this is why they’re called “greenhouse gasses.” More...

Why is BP in Control of The Gulf Cleanup

by Chuck Peavey 4. July 2010 14:28

Business Today

It's not easy doing business in this economy.  Well, maybe it is for you but I find I need to work longer hours, plan more and be more focused on what will bring in money.  I have a plan, I've come up with new ways to make my business more successful and now, it's time to follow that plan and quickly.  There is less leisure time for me now as I find new ways put these practices into my business and it's important that I'm not distracted by things that won't help me to create more success in my business. BP Oil Spill (Part 2.5) - Real Numbers?

by Chuck Peavey 11. June 2010 11:18

Oil Spill Real Numbers

It's starting to come out, the truth about how much oil is leaking into the Golf of Mexico.  Probably the most unbiased numbers I've been able to find are on the PBS web site.  They talk about how they came up with their oil spill numbers and it makes sense.  They also created a link to the live video and an estimate of how many gallons leaked.
